SIDEKICK Electronic Percussion (41 MB):

I wanted to create percussions that not only would sound great and offer versatility when sequencing. But that would also be fun to play in realtime on a keyboard or a drum pad with the velocity layers. I am very happy with the results. I named it Sidekick because it is a great add-on to any acoustic or electronic drums/percussions kits. Even though it features plenty of kick drums, some snares and toms, the bulk of this set is made of original and unique percussive sounds and FX.

There are 285 sounds including 152 with velocity layers (from 2 to 8, average 4 or 5) for a total of 809 samples. All were created with various softsynths. Get the free demos on our Free Sounds page.

Here are some MP3 examples of real time playing showcasing the possibilities offered by the velocity layers. Each one uses only one sound played at different velocities. Not really great music but they do demonstrate well what can be achieved with the velocity layers:

It is available in soundfont, Gigastudio 3, Kontakt 3 and wave file formats. Kits for FXpansion DR-008, LinPlug RM4 and NUSofting DK+ drum machines are included with the wave files. The GigaStudio 3 version is organized in 7 instruments and has 29 Instrument Performances files that include variations in the form of random, Round Robin dimensions and more. Electronic Drum Kits (19 MB):

Comments from a happy user: "I just got the RM IV Kits from Les Productions Zvon plus the bonus acid loops. The kits a great! I figured out a cool way (to me) to use them too. Load up 2 RMIVs with the same midi track, then use a good acoustic kit in one and some of the cool Zvon fixed kits in the other, then start mixing their levels until you like what you hear.

-- The Zvon drums and percussions kits are made of 161 samples. All the samples are in the wave format, 16 bits, 44.1 kHz, they were made with various drum synths, though none are from the RM4 or the DR-008, and they're all originals from "Les Productions Zvon". The full kits contain some basic sounds but mostly consists of unusual sounds or sfx. They can be used in any sampler or drum sampler.

For both sets, the samples are not velocity layered but quite a few of them are similar and they can be layered with each other. And of course, you can make layers with dissimilar sounds too.
